Went out with my son for a hack this weekend. As we have only the one horse, one of us walks first then swaps to ride the second part of the hack. He rode, I walked. It was all going fine. He had her doing a lot of canters, and a couple of gallops too. Then we swapped over. Lovely walk. Comfy trot. Canter. Fast canter. Not even going to listen to you as I'm having a blast cantering canter. Hang on there's a corner coming up. Where did you go mum? What are you doing in that field mum? Oooooh you have got some bruises mum. And thistle burns. And you're a bit muddy too mum. Why didn't you hang on mum? Don't worry mum I'm fine.
So there it is. My first fall since I started riding again. It bloody hurt! But at least I've done it and got it out of the way. And I have got a humongous bruise on my thigh, which is swollen too. Cuts on my arm and bruises on both arms. And my thumb is swollen and bruised too. And it's not very mobile anymore. And my riding hat has a large deep scratch in it now, probably from a flint. And I hit my nose.
So, my message is
ALWAYS WEAR YOUR RIDING HELMET
